Frank Borman was born in Gary, Indiana and grew up in Tucson, AZ. He graduated from West Point in 1950. After serving as a fighter pilot in the Philippines and the U.S., he was an assistant professor at West Point and an experimental test pilot at Edwards A.F.B., CA.<\/p>\n<p>Joining NASA\u2019s space program in 1962, he commanded the Gemini 7 mission and in 1968 he won international fame as Commander of the Apollo 8 space flight, the manned lunar orbital mission.
